Andy Roddick downed countryman Justin Gimelstob 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 6-3 during the first round in the US Open on Tuesday. Justin Gimelstob, who fell to 0-9. Gimelstob, a 30-year-old American, is retiring after a 12-year professional tennis career that included two Grand Slam mixed doubles titles with Venus.
