USS Grunion (SS-216)
The (SS-216) which is the drug submarine of choice for cartels of South America, the model which is more familiarly known as the USS Grunion from World War II. Recently the remains of the USS Grunion were discovered with 70 to have died aboard when it sank in 1942. First Class Seaman Byron P. Orney' was serving on the vessel when it started gathering water when it sand in July of 1942. This is turning out to be the largest collection of War Documents since the discoveries of the earliest Enigma Encryption Devices used on such ships.The collection of documents where said to be large and the sailor reported that it was light it was dark it was light it was dark right before everything went black. The vessel was crushed just 1.9 kilometers below the surface , the medical bay was said to be the hardest hit.
The Forbes article here goes into more detail about the search for more surviving WWI artifacts which might be found in the area, so far the USS Grunion is the only submarine to have been found in the Area which was lost but efforts are being made to find the area again.
