Last.fm, Del.icio.us

[Full-disclosure] ScatterChat Advisory 2006-02: Win32 Tor Client Routing and Denial of Service Vulnerabilities
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
ScatterChat Advisory 2006-02: Win32 Tor Client Routing and Denial of
Service Vulnerabilities
Technical Report
September 2nd, 2006
CVE ID: CVE-2006-4508
OSVDB: 28276, 28277
SUMMARY
ScatterChat (http://www.scatterchat.com/) is an instant messaging project
that aims to provide encryption and anonymity support with Tor to
non-technical users such as human rights activists and political
dissidents.
Vulnerabilities were found in the external Tor program that is packaged
with the Windows installer. This vulnerability allows a Tor entry node
to route traffic through the client, or to cause a denial of service by
crashing the Tor process with malformed input.
The impact of this vulnerability is low.
DETAILS
The official Tor advisory can be found at:
http://archives.seul.org/or/announce/Aug-2006/msg00001.html
IMPACT
The end-user impact of this issue is low.
Should a malicious or compromised Tor entry node successfully exploit
these issues, the local user's Tor process would crash, and/or the user's
machine would route traffic to other Tor nodes.
Routing unwanted traffic would cause bandwidth resources to be consumed
as long as ScatterChat is running.
SOLUTION
All Windows users who employ ScatterChat's anonymity feature are
strongly encouraged to upgrade to ScatterChat v1.0.2:
http://www.scatterchat.com/download/v1.0.2/scatterchat-1.0.2.exe
http://www.scatterchat.com/download/v1.0.2/scatterchat-1.0.2.exe.sig

I'm guessing it ends with the world exploding. Because the only thing
worse than the asshat we now have at the wheel here (USA) would be
Cheney steering us into an iceberg. (Trivia! Cheney and I have the same
cardiologist... WTF)
Politics aside, I like movies that stir the pot. It could be interesting.
As for the bridge... sure, L.B. works. We may have a buyer from Dallas ;-)

Do you have a page that shows the error? That page uses 2.58.

n3td3v with the beginning Spetember 1st 2006 is the end of n3td3v
commentry via Full-Disclosure list or any other medium. This is
because n3td3v is moving into the professional scene, so underground
hacker scene isn't suitable for the n3td3v agenda. The agenda now is
to lay low and say nothing. n3td3v understands the security community
needs n3td3v, but n3td3v needs to follow career paths into an academic
life style away from the homebred/international hacker community.
Thank you Yahoo and Google for being a part of my life during the past
7/half years, its been a blast. Take care security community, the
force of n3td3v is with you. Our final death wish is that the security
community cross-posts to n3td3v@googlegroups.com , see our mailing list

good bye, your staff have been briefed on operational detail in
private for the following years ahead as we prepare to reduce public
relatiions on mailing lists and go fully underground! Add the n3td3v
mailing list to your books, this has been a n3td3v production...the
rest is upto you to bring the biggest corporations to its knees! rest
in peace.......
<Sniff Sniif>Why you doing this?? I miss you. I born to make fun you, I live to make fun you. But now? You go? I leave high dry?
Oh... so google yahoo important? PRIVATE MESSAGE? me you forget? I deserve not some privacy?
I dedicate time to read crap.. You reciprocate like this? You break heart of mine. And.. and.. I dont get the lousy one message of information of your retirement.
And what about all of us who know zero security? Who we depend on for ground breaking security essay? I join full -disclosure for you? And you leave? You not just steal list of core security stuff.. you als steal enjoyment of tem minutes my day.
Still I love you.
Hope you take care of all of us even from underground. Careful, bunny tells me people not nice there.

Hackers for years, including my hackers have been trying to do what TP
is doing. If folks from TP/3Com read Full-Disclosure list they'll know
even with "Full Disclosure" you cannot change companies to "fast up
their security response". It is neat that the folks at TP/3Com are
trying half disclosure tactics, but if agressive folks like you and me
can't change the bug priorty of high profile vendors, then its
unlikely a "reduced disclosure" policy on the TP/3Com sight is going
to turn heads. 3Com if they "really" want to get vendors to fix TP
reported bugs is to mail those disclosure not only to the TP/3Com site
but to the wider security community via mailing lists.

Mike,
All my code is in the request.readyState block but on 2.62 i get the
error when closing a tabbed info window. Code has not changed since
2.58 and when I go from 2.x to 2.61 it clears up.

Hello Friend,
It is indeed my pleasure to write you this letter, which I believe will be a surprise to you as we have never met before, and I am deeply sorry if I have in any manner disturbed your privacy. Please forgive this unusual manner of contacting you. My name is Mr. wahid adada, A Bahraini national. I have been diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer .It has defied all forms of
medical treatment, and right now I have only about a few months to live, according to medical experts. I have not particularly lived my life so well, as I never really cared for anyone (not even myself) but my business. Though I am very rich, I was never generous, I was always hostile to people and only focused on my business as that was the only thing I cared for. But now I regret all this as I now know that there is more to life than just wanting to have or make all the money in the world. I believe when God gives me a second chance to come to this world I would live my life a different way from how I have lived it. Now that God has called me, I have willed and given most of my property and assets to my immediate and extended family members as well as a few close friends .I want God to be merciful to me and accept my soul so, I have decided to give alms to charity organizations, as I want this to be one of the last good deeds I do on earth. So far, I have distributed money
to some charity organizations in the U.A.E, Somalia and Malaysia. Now that my health has deteriorated so badly, I cannot do this myself anymore. I once asked members of my family to close one of my accounts and distribute the money which I have there to charity organization in Bulgaria and Pakistan; they refused and kept the money to themselves. Hence, I do not trust them anymore, as they seem not to be contended with what I have left for them. The last of my money which no one knows of is the huge cash deposit of four Million dollars ($4,000,000.00) that I have with finance House abroad. I will want you to help me collect this deposit and dispatch it to charity organizations. N/B: KINDLY NOTE THAT 80% of these funds must go to victims of recent disasters and another 20% for your effort and time. Upon receipt of your response, I shall communicate with you, and let you know the details of the transfer. Whatever your actions and your decision, I thank you for taking the time t

The XML processing is asynchronous. After sending your request, the codeimmediately following the request.send(null) is eexcuted, and at thattime there are no entries in your loc[] array.Some time later, the request completes and only then do you start to putentries into the array.All code that relies on the results from your XML fetch must be placedinside theif (request.readyState == 4) {}.block.--Google Map API Tutorial

Re: Adding a stream layer (as in water) to google maps base layer
-e,
Shapefiles (.shp) can be read on the server side with a Perl module:
http://cpan.uwinnipeg.ca/module/Geo::ShapeFile
The data can then be used to build custom maps. See section "Custom
Maps" in Mike Williams' tutorial:
http://www.econym.demon.co.uk/googlemaps/
For a working example look at my map, (URL below), click on "Counties",
"Counties N", "Counties S", "Cloud Cover", etc.They are all custom maps
built from shapefiles.
Data from shapefiles could also be used to draw polylines, but you
probably have too many points for that to work efficiently, so custom
maps would be a better option.

Re: save geocode output to file
xn85turbo,
James (GMapCoder) told you, in the previous post, exactely how it can
be done.
You can send all you want back and forth between client and server with
an HTTP Request object:
http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/AJAX:Getting_Started
There is no simpler way.
Marcelo.

Re: save geocode output to file
Actually I want to do exactly like http://www.frappr.com does. The
member inserts their info and it places them on the map. It is google
maps api. So since I have seen it done there must be a way. I just
want the map feature from that site so the members of my site can put
them selves on the world map since I have them from 26 countries. Its
to show where the other motorcycle owners are located. Frappr has to
much other junk and adds to want to use it in my site, hence my quest.
I was thinking that they did it by inserting the location and piping
the info into a xml or even a simple txt file. I am sure there is a
mysql way but I want to stay simple at first. Then the page reads the
xml or txt file to show the users location.

Well, what can I say... I solved it.
I often find that people who say "you cant do that, quit trying" really
mean "I cant do that, quit trying".
Anyway; thanks to those who tried to help.

Re: find the nearest marker
Be aware that sorting arrays in Javascript is ridiculously fast. That's
because the browsers use a very efficient algorithm that's compiled into
the browser.
A quick test on my old 800 MHz machine showed that calculating 1000
distances took 0.33 seconds. Sorting the 1000 entry array took 0.15
seconds. Expect a modern computer to be 3 or 4 times faster than that.
The distance calculations take longer than the sort because the Google
code uses several Javascript commands per distance calculation, and
interpreted code runs a lot slower than complied code.
Here are some snippets of the code that I used:
var places = [];
// Loading the data
for (var i = 0; i < 1000; i++) {
var lat = parseFloat(markers[i].getAttribute("lat"));
var lng = parseFloat(markers[i].getAttribute("lng"));
var latlng = new GLatLng(lat,lng);
var town = markers[i].getAttribute("town");
places.push({latlng:latlng, town:town});
}
GLog.write("calculating distances");
for (i=0; i<places.length; i++) {
places[i].dist = places[i].latlng.distanceFrom(centrelatlng);
}
GLog.write("sorting");
places.sort(function (a,b) {return (a.dist - b.dist)});
GLog.write("sorted");
GLog.write displays a timestamp for each log entry, which gives the
elapsed time for each step.
Each entry in my places[] array is an anonymous Object that has .latlng,
.town, and .dist properties. The sort doesn't take any longer if you
store lots of extra information (e.g. the html string for the info
window) because Array.sort() sorts by reference rather than physically
moving the array contents.

TK,
I doubt that Google would provide such a function. I've thought about
incorporating this feature into my site but am working on something of
a higher priority at the moment. I'll share what I come up on this

Please do the same :)

Re: Several GMap2 instances
yes, exactly, when you are using a map, a location is required...
however, a user should not have to display a location, and if you got any sense at all you will learn something called an INITIAL VALUE.. that is where you annoy users by making them put something in , otherewise you default it to something they dont want to see, but something YOU WANT them to see

I guess it must be possible to them to pass information like that to
you, otherwise your plugin wouldn't know the id of the div that contains
the map. If they can pass you the map id, they can just at easily pass
you the name of a global variable that references the map.

Thanks for all ideas, but when I say "allow the user to
use Google Maps with a GPS" I actually mean any Google map. There are
no requirements other than that there must be a map on a web page. It's
possible to use this map for instance:
http://www.google.com/apis/maps/.
> ...id of the div that contains the map
The user, i.e. the person who is driving the browser, not he/she who
writes the web page, needs to select the layer by clicking on it.
That's all the information I have.
> the name of a global variable that references the map
If I made a Google API extension or something, that would be the best
approach. But as I said; any map.
Anyway, I'll try to find some solution. I'm sure its possible.

Due to the fact that javascript can't write to files, the best way to
get this done (as I understand the problem) is to use an ajax request
to send the info to your server, where you can store it however you
like, possibly retrieving it later based on a cookie.
Hope this helps,

Re: Mouse Scroll Zooming Feature
t+assume lang java/c--
you gotta display the 3 arrays for that,, all need to be subprogrammeed into a class method.
the main body of the program has to have 6 to 10 events depending on how well you want the zoom to move (choppy vs super smooth)
::: lclick_up/rclick_up
::: lclick_up/lclick_down
::: lclick_up/rclick_down
:::
:::
:::
::: wheel_spin_forward
::: wheel_spin_reverse
:::
those all have to be in their own mehtods/events for some type of nested loop ot remove the contentst from the 3 array buffers... you could also use a thread to get all the available information and use it to send the information (polling) to the correct parts of the main program ie zoom-in/out
I personally like the center wheel to connect to the debug level in my compiler so I can thread safe my code.

The zooming feature found on Google Maps (the one with the red box
while zooming) does not exist in the Maps API yet. There are other
threads with code on creating make-shift scroll mouse zoom functions,
though. Take a look at some of these and see if it gets you what you
need:

Re: find the nearest marker
If Google, or anyone else, were to write such a sorting function, how
do you think they would achieve the result you want?
It would have to deal with all the points in the array, no matter how
smart it is written, so you don't gain any performance compared to your
solution of checking each distance.
Depending on what your application does, there might be some smart
tricks you can do.
For example, you could divide the world into quadrants, and each
quadrant into more quadrants.
Then, when you create each marker, add it to an associative array that
also contains information about the quadrant the marker is in.
When the user clicks somewhere, search the local quadrant first, then
the neighbouring quadrants, and so on.
If your markers are evenly distributed, the odds are you'll find a
marker in one of the near quadrants before you go through all of them.
Just an idea... :-)
Marcelo.

Hi Joel,
I tested the beginning of unsmooth dragging in IE: It began with V2.50.
Beginning with V2.50, the CPU utilization is much higher than before,
and, because of that, dragging is very jerky if you don't have the
newest machine.
It also didn't affect FF.
You now can test the different behavior of dragging in IE in two simple
files.
V2.48 --> http://www.mapdist.de/test.html
V2.63 --> http://www.mapdist.de/test2.htm

All of this could work.
If (and only if) _SERVER[DOCUMENT_ROOT] can be manipulated
through GET- or POST-parameters.
Is this possible?
<http://www.php.net/manual/en/reserved.variables.php>
states
"$_SERVER is an array containing information such as
headers, paths, and script locations. The entries in this
array are created by the webserver."
and especially for DOCUMENT_ROOT:
"'DOCUMENT_ROOT'
The document root directory under which the current
script is executing, as defined in the server's
configuration file."
I made some tests (Apache with several combinations of
register_globals-settings etc.), and every time the
$_SERVER[DOCUMENT_ROOT] was set from the Apache-
configuration. Since I have no IIS for tests at the
moment I can say nothing about the behavior there. But
even if a manipulation is possible with IIS I would tend
to see the vulnerability in IIS and not in PHP or the
scripts.
If there is no way to change $_SERVER[DOCUMENT_ROOT],
then there are no vulnerabilities in MBCMS.
Otherwise I bet we will see much more RFI-vulnerabilities
due unchecked $_SERVER[DOCUMENT_ROOT] in include()- and
require()-statements in the future, since the usage of
this variable is a common way to create portable scripts.

Hi,
There are several sql injections in e107 0.7.5 admin section :
I) The "linkopentype", "linkrender" and "link_class" parameters are passed
to "db_Insert()" function without checking :
File /e107_admin/links.php, Line 496 :
>> $sql->db_Insert("links", "0, '$link_name', '$link_url', '$link_description', '$link_button', ".$_POST['linkrender'].", ".($link_t+1).", ".$parent_id.", ".$_POST['linkopentype'].", ".$_POST['link_class']);
II) The "linkopentype", "linkrender", "link_class" and "link_id" parameters
are passed to "db_Update()" and "db_Select()" functions without checking :
File /e107_admin/links.php, Line 480 :
>> $sql->db_Update("links", "link_parent='$parent_id', link_name='$link_name', link_url='$link_url', link_description='$link_description', link_button= '$link_button', link_category='".$_POST['linkrender']."', link_open='".$_POST['linkopentype']."', link_class='".$_POST['link_class']."' WHERE link_id='$id'");
File /e107_admin/links.php, Line 482 :
>> if($sql->db_Select("links", "*", "link_parent='{$id}'"))
POC :
-----
Go to "Admin" -> "Site Links" -> "Edit" section
(/e107_admin/links.php?create.edit.1), and change the values of
"linkopentype", "linkrender", "link_class" and "link_id" inputs.
III) The "searchquery" parameter in file /e107_admin/users.php, line 448
is not checked against sql injection :
>> $_POST['searchquery'] = trim($_POST['searchquery']);
Which make the next query vulnerable .
POC :
-----
Go to users admin section (/e107_admin/users.php), and search for "1' SQL" .
IV) The "download_category_class" parameter is not checked properly before
using in the insert query :
File /e107_admin/download.php, Line 1320 :
>> admin_update($sql->db_Insert("download_category", "0, '$download_category_name', '$download_category_description', '$download_category_icon', '".intval($_POST['download_category_parent'])."', '".$_POST['download_category_class']."', 0 "), 'insert', DOWLAN_47);
These are in administration section, so they dont seem to be critical.
